The College Principal


Mr. Sylvester Donkoh assumed the role of Principal at Berekum College of Education in August 2023. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Vice Principal of Foso College of Education starting from January 2023.

Mr. Donkoh began his academic journey at the FOSCO Demonstration School in Assin Foso and subsequently attended Mfantsipim School in Cape Coast, where he successfully completed his Senior High School Certificate Examination. His pursuit of education continued at Foso College of Education, where he obtained his Teacher’s Certificate ‘A’. He furthered his studies at the University of Cape Coast, earning a degree in Science Education. His dedication to academia led him to pursue a second degree in Science Education when he was a tutor at Foso College of Education.

Throughout his career, Mr. Donkoh has held various positions, including Deputy Assessment Officer, Secretary to the Academic Board, Assessment Officer, Examination Coordinator, and eventually ascended to the Vice Principal position. His exemplary work has been recognized with awards such as the Assin North Municipal Best Teacher (2nd Prize) and the Sunturk Most Dedicated Staff Award (Teaching Category).

In pursuit of continuous improvement, Mr. Donkoh has undertaken short courses on topics such as Making Successful Decisions through the Strategy, Law and Ethics Model, Introduction to Psychology, An Introduction to American Law, Intellectual Humility Science, and Know thyself-The Value and Limits of Self-Knowledge: the Examined Life.

His contributions to academia extend beyond his administrative roles. He has actively participated in conferences, presenting research papers, and has published over 10 articles in international journals. Additionally, he has co-authored two books within his domain of expertise.

Mr. Donkoh is a member of esteemed professional organizations including the National Association of Science Teachers and the Royal Chemical Society. His research interests encompass Teaching and Learning, Higher Education, E-Learning, Teacher Education, Issues in Science Education, and Educational Technology.

Driven by a commitment to professional development, research, and publication, Mr. Donkoh aspires to enhance his skills and competencies. He aims to contribute significantly to the growth of the institution, playing a pivotal role in achieving its vision and mission.
